The popular tech blog Digital Inspiration just posted an independent survey of website monitoring services. And guess what? Pingdom came out on top.
The survey compared how quickly and reliably different monitoring services alert you if your website goes down. This is a very important metric for webmasters. The sooner you know that your website has gone down, the sooner you can do something about it.
Pingdom was both the fastest to send alerts when a website went down and when it came back up, beating the other services in the test by a margin ranging from 5 to 30 minutes.

We have worked hard to provide a high-quality service, and it’s great to see our hard work paying off and being displayed in independent surveys like this one.
Check out the full survey over at Digital Inspiration.

The New England Patriots held what seemed to be a commanding lead (17-15) with five minutes left of Super Bowl XLVI last night. But the New York Giants came back and managed to win with 21-17.
As exciting as the game sounds, we missed the whole thing, instead spending our time watching the Superbowl.com website.
It turned out to be a rather dull thing to do because the site held up well and there was no downtime at all. The response time also didn’t give away anything significant in terms of online Super Bowl traffic.

I’ll second Mika, Pingdom has been great for me.
My host is pretty good, but sometimes Bad Things happen anyway. Pingdom is my insurance. It doesn’t stop my downtime, but at least I’ll know about it!
