For those of you who use our Mr. Uptime Firefox extension, we just wanted to let you know that we have updated it for Firefox 3.5.
The update was submitted to Mozilla last Friday and is pending approval, but you can already download it directly from the Mr. Uptime website. (It’s free, as it always has been.)
For those of you who don’t know what Mr. Uptime is, it’s a Firefox extension from us here at Pingdom that will tell you when a broken website is working again.
For example, it’s not uncommon that websites go down if they are popular on Digg, Reddit, Slashdot, Twitter and other social media sites (the so-called Digg or Slashdot effect, and these days also the Twitter effect). If you come upon a site that is down, instead of forgetting about it, you can ask Mr. Uptime (with just a mouse click) to tell you when the site is back up. That simple.
You can learn more at the Mr. Uptime website, where you can also get the latest version.

Mr. Uptime has proven to be quite a popular Firefox extension among social media-savvy Web users. If you want to make sure to never miss interesting content online just because a site happens to be down when you visit it, give it a shot!

But in which country can we find the most secure websites in relation to population? The answer may surprise you.

The New England Patriots held what seemed to be a commanding lead (17-15) with five minutes left of Super Bowl XLVI last night. But the New York Giants came back and managed to win with 21-17.
As exciting as the game sounds, we missed the whole thing, instead spending our time watching the Superbowl.com website.
It turned out to be a rather dull thing to do because the site held up well and there was no downtime at all. The response time also didn’t give away anything significant in terms of online Super Bowl traffic.

Out of the 59 US-based e-commerce sites we monitored during the holiday season last year 28 scored a perfect 100% uptime for December.
Whether this helped spur on the booming sales in the US, we don’t know, but retail e-commerce spending in the US reached $37.2 billion for the November to December 2011 period. That was an increase of 15% from the same period in 2010.
We decided to dig into the numbers for these e-commerce sites to see how well they did in terms of uptime and performance. After massaging the data coming from our Pingdom probes, it turns out that the sites overall performed well during December 2011 in terms of uptime, but response time was an issue for several sites.

Need an update for 3.6 and higher!
Why is it so version sensitive?

@ID: We’ll update it soon. Just need to check a few dependencies. The reason why it’s “version sensitive” is just the way Mozilla handles plugins.
