We’re gonna BE RICH!!!

Just imagine how extremely happy we were when the following email dropped into the support inbox here at Pingdom:

spam

We are obviously very flattered to have been chosen by this lovely African lady and that she wants to transfer all those millions of dollars into our bank account.

Needless to say, we will of course help this wonderful woman so she can invest in our business. How about that five star hotel idea she presented in her email?

(Yes, ok, we ARE kidding. But some of those spam emails are funny, especially when they land in a support inbox totally out of context. It would be funnier if it wasn’t for the sad fact that some unfortunate people are actually fooled by spam. According to some sources a full 12% of email users have tried to buy stuff from spam emails.)

i remember my first spam email:
damn i was so angry i didnt win those 2 tickets to ibiza
but i didnt pay shit
was just happy for a few moments:D

I remember in the mid 80′s companies in Eastern Europe (behind the iron-curtain) got letters like this by snail-mail.

LOL, i like that font.

A really cool site I found a few years ago http://www.419eater.com The guy follows up on those letters and wastes the scammers time, it is a great read.

Each time I got email which contain unbelieveable $$$ I delete it soon. I hate it.

Shame on you. I received the same email and now im happy with my 20% commision.

You should actually post info for people so they fall intro this tricks and here they are:

If you do respond this, they actually follow you and call, etc. They ask you to wire some amount like 1000$ so they can pay the bank fees it costs them to wire you the full money. What a joke!!!!

I dont understand how people fall into this. Is someone actually so stupid to wire money to someone they dont know?

I received one even better last week. It came from the F.B.I and they wanted to send me an ATM card with money on it. :)

There’s no denying that Google Chrome continues to be the darling of the web browser market. And as we predicted in July last year, Chrome overtook Firefox around November 2011.

So now the question is, when will Google also wrestle down Internet Explorer, and become the undisputed king of the browser world? In December 2011, Chrome 15 became the most popular browser in the world, beating Internet Explorer 8, but if you combine all IE versions, Microsoft still holds the number 1 spot.

Equipped with the latest web browser statistics from StatCounter, we set out to see when Chrome is likely to achieve more than 50% market share.

No news is good news for the Super Bowl website

The New England Patriots held what seemed to be a commanding lead (17-15) with five minutes left of Super Bowl XLVI last night. But the New York Giants came back and managed to win with 21-17.

As exciting as the game sounds, we missed the whole thing, instead spending our time watching the Superbowl.com website.

It turned out to be a rather dull thing to do because the site held up well and there was no downtime at all. The response time also didn’t give away anything significant in terms of online Super Bowl traffic.
