Nice list, but strange that you have not included .GS (South Georgia), in the South Atlantic. There used to be a small town there several decades ago (at the time of whaling expeditions), but now only a handful of British soldiers and the curator of the museum with his wife live on the territory. Beautiful landscapes, by the way. I bought two .GS domain names (including my own family name), and then bought a few books available on South Georgia. I find it quite exciting to be the owner of domain names of a place where nearly nobody lives!
Cheapest registrations for .GS seems to be Netsol, provided you buy for five years (for a shorter duration, there are other options).

Well people use tld that fits their type of use. Axample if your planning on making an vhost for an irc bnc, .com would basically never make a good ending. with .tv you could make i.watch.tv but i.watch.tv.com wouldn't be so good..

Thats some of the reason their widely use and also because people can get top domains like google.pf etc.....

How about Tuvalu and .TV? It probably has the most skewed population to domains ratio.

It would be interesting to see an update on this with a link to places where you can actually register these TLDs.

I remember trying to get a few obscure domains (granted a few years ago) and found it quite hard. On top of that if I'm not mistaken unless you had an agent/registered office in the country you would not be allowed to buy them.
