If aliens invade from space, don’t count on Asus to help

Do you lie awake at night expecting aliens to invade our planet? Perhaps you have nightmares after watching “Mars attacks!” or think Jell-O is now yuck after seeing “The green slime.”

Chances are, regardless of whether you are anxious about aliens or not, that it’s not something you think about when you buy a new computer or gadget. For example, have you ever thought about whether the warranty of your brand new computer is valid if (when?) the aliens arrive?

If that’s you, you should definitely not expect Taiwanese computer, component, and gadget manufacturer Asus to help.

Under the heading “Exclusions from your ASUS Warranty Extension Program including the WEP On-Site NBD Limited Hardware Warranty Service” we can read some of the usual things you would expect to find in this text.

For example, this is to be expected: the warranty is not valid if “The product has been tampered with, repaired and/or modified by non-authorized personnel.”

But as we continue down the list of exclusions something more unusual appears:

“There is damage caused by natural disaster, intentional or unintentional misuse, acts of war, space invasions, abuse, neglect, improper maintenance, or use under abnormal conditions.”

Then our question becomes, who can prove, for sure, if there’s been a space invasion or not? We can only assume that Asus has some mechanism in place for doing just that.

Have you come across some more unusual terms in a warranty for a computer or other piece of technology? Share it with us in the comments or on Twitter.

So.. a space invasion is not an abnormal condition?

Just a friendly reminder, that Higher intelligence beings are 100% real. Of course they are NOT going to invade us, if that ever happens it will be a false flag attack. Cheers! Keep up the good work pingdom.

Pelican Cases (not tech) used to have an exclusion for shark attack or children under 5 years of age. I see they have removed those terms though; lawyers have no sense of humor.

Well, Asus does well in covering its back like that. Cuz, in the end, you never know... They only forgot to include "transdimensional interference" LOL ;)

Thanks James, that's a good one.

Google lists "acts of God" as an exclusion in the Doubleclick terms and conditions, would be interesting to know what kind of divine interference they expect to happen in ads ;-)
