Pingdom checks reach Earth’s orbit

We decided to see exactly how many checks are being performed every hour by the Pingdom monitoring network.

The result is clear: Our servers are busy little bees. Our network of servers performs 100,000 checks every hour. That is 2.4 million checks per day.

To give those numbers give some perspective, if you placed 100,000 soda cans (Jolt Cola, or whatever your preference may be) on top of each other, the pile would be 11 km high (7 miles). That is enough to reach the Stratosphere. In one day the pile would reach 266 km (165 miles), which is high enough to reach many of the satellites in Earth’s orbit. Imagine that, soda cans in Space…

Soda cans in Space!

Our next goal will of course be the Moon.

Jokes aside, we are taking our expansion very seriously and are currently preparing both our monitoring network and our backend for further scaling.
